ROI & Site Load Planner

Price the site before you dig.

Tell us about the site and how many units, and this estimates the electrical the site needs and the return it makes, for the charger you were just reading about, from the same model our team quotes from.

06  Site readiness

Most of the cost of a charging project is the electrical work. How much of it is already done?

New construction built to EV-ready code: conduit, conductors and a dedicated breaker already at the space. Mount the unit, terminate it, commission it.

Everything other than utilisation follows US 2026 benchmarks for this site type, and all of it is editable in the full planner.

These figures are approximate.

Load management saves $240 a year in demand charges

AmpOn Core holds the site's peak to 8 kVA, so the utility bills demand on that instead of every port running flat out at once. The wiring is the same either way; the saving is on the bill, every year.

Utilisation basis

Utilisation is the input you set. It starts at AmpOn’s planning basis of 20% port utilisation for AC and 25% for DC, the same starting point for every site type, and it is a share of the 24 hours a day the ports are available here, so 20% is about 4.8 hours a port a day. The full planner can change that window. It is a planning basis chosen by AmpOn rather than a measured figure for your site, though it sits close to the market: US DC fast charging ran at 15.8% nationally in Q2 2026. A quieter site will return less than shown here, and the full planner lets you model any number.

Utilisation ramps: year one runs at 11% and year two at 16% of the 20% you set, because new sites fill slowly. It reaches your figure in year three, then grows 6% a year to a ceiling of 22%, which is 10% above what you set, and never beyond it. Costed for a site already built to EV-ready code: conduit, conductors and a breaker at the bay. Anything beyond that, whether new circuits, trenching, a subpanel, a service upgrade or utility work, is additional, and is quoted by the AmpOn team case by case once we have seen the site. Planning estimate. Equipment at AmpOn estimated pricing (Sept 2026); installation modelled on US 2026 benchmarks for this site type and is not a quote. Breaker and conductor sizes are indicative under NEC 625.41, 625.42 and 310.16 and do not replace a stamped design. A reduced service depends on a listed energy management system under NEC Article 750. No federal 30C credit is applied; it terminated for property placed in service after 30 June 2026.
